Day 5 - Tillamook to Rose Lodge

Today's ride had two big climbs. Riding a fully loaded touring rig is a completely different experience. Brett has been riding off in front of us, rather than waiting up. He checks the map, then takes off. Today he made two wrong turns and ended up off-route. He eventually met up with us, but put in some extra miles in the process.

The scenery is amazing. The rainforest is completely unlike anything we have in the midwest. All the trees are covered in moss and the forest is very full and lush. We rode by Sand Lake today, which is indeed a giant lake of sand. Very surreal. Apparently it is a big draw, as there was a line of trucks hauling ATVs waiting to gain access to the area. Sad that most of the people enjoying the area seem to be doing so from gas-guzzling terrain destroyers...
